Ruth-Day 7
God sees our every need and always provides for us. Here the Lord brought hard-working Ruth to the attention of a powerful, wealthy man named Boaz. When we have abundance, we are often used by God to help those who are lacking. Boaz extended kindness to Ruth, rather than hoarding his wealth. The simple obedience of Ruth and Boaz on this ordinary day made room for the extraordinary work that God wanted to accomplish in their lives. When we serve in simple ways, God takes notice.
If you are experiencing lack right now, keep faithfully tending your field. God will provide for you in unexpected ways. If you are surrounded by abundance, ask God to open your eyes to those around you who may need your help. Don’t hoard God’s blessings from those in need. Purpose to extend His kindness to others.
Lord, thank You for providing for our every need. Help us to work hard in the field You have planted us in and take note of the hurting who need our help. Amen.
“Now behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem and said to the reapers, “May the Lord be with you.” And they said to him, “May the Lord bless you.” Then Boaz said to his servant who was in charge of the reapers, “Whose young woman is this?” And the servant in charge of the reapers replied, “She is the young Moabite woman who returned with Naomi from the land of Moab. And she said, ‘Please let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves.’ So she came and has remained from the morning until now; she has been sitting in the house for a little while.””

“‘Now when you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap to the very edges of your field, nor shall you gather the gleanings of your harvest. And you shall not glean your vineyard, nor shall you gather the fallen grapes of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the needy and for the stranger. I am the Lord your God.”
