Life With Christ
My wife forbade me from doing laundry last week. I was trying to help out. The problem is not knowing how to help. My idea of laundry is to put it all in a the same time and push start. Apparently some items cannot be washed or dried together. Who knew?
I have been married for 25 years. I am 47 years old. I still can't figure out this laundry thing. But I am not going to stop trying. I want be a full partner with my wife; that means I want to help her as much as she helps me. And i know that my failure in doing the laundry will never changer her unstoppable love for me. Keeping human relationship takes commitment to life with each other.
A Christian's life should be given to daily seeking the holiness of God. In this process of sanctification, one must evaluate their life for sin and seek forgiveness. It is impossible to let a holy God fill your life if there are unconfessed transgressions.
At the same time, Christians need to live as forgiven and free persons. You need to know that once God has cleansed you life of sin you are freed from its bondage forever. The same grace that we receive through Christ should empower us to live in Christ.
The Apostle Paul writes "now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death no longer is master over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus." (Romans 6:8-11).
A prisoner who is chained to the wall knows that he is trapped and unable to escape. But when the chains are removed, he will live his life as a free man. The bonds may leave marks on his wrists but they no longer hold his life. He does not behave as one who is held captive.
When God forgives you from sin you are to live life as a righteous and redeemed man. The scars of sin may be present, but you have a life that is free. Yes, humbly seek daily forgiveness but also live as a holy servant of the Most High.
May God Bless You,
Bro. Matt
