The Great I Am

In the book of Exodus, God revealed Himself to Moses by the name I AM (Jehovah - Ex. 3:14).  He is the 'Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending" the one "which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty" (Rev. 1:8).  It is difficult to explain the glory and the greatness of God.  We cannot simply place Him in a box. We must acknowledge that He is the great I AM.  Great than the sum of all the hopes and dreams of everyone and everything!

Seven times in the book of John, Jesus refers to Himself as the I AM.  He says: I AM the bread of life (6:35).  I AM the light of the world (8:12).  I AM the door (10:7).  I AM the good shepherd (10:11).  I AM the resurrection and the life (11:25).  I AM the way (14:6).  I AM the true vine (15:1).

When Jesus used the name I AM, He was laying claim to His identity as the Almighty.  He is God in all aspects of His being.  John 1:1 tells us that "in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."  Jesus is the Word. Jesus is God.

When making a profession of faith in Jesus Christ, you are not merely joining a church or another organization.  You are stating your loyalty and life to the Creator.  When we follow Jesus, we follow the only Power in the world that matters.  This relationship makes every part of your day special.

They say if you do not like the weather in West Tennessee just wait a little while; it will change.  In the last few days we have experienced temperatures close to zero with ice and snow and a beautiful sunny day that is well over 70 degrees.
Does your relationship with God change like the weather?  One day you are cold to Him.  You don't even think about Him or talk with Him.  Then you get warmed up with a fire in your faith.  IF – Jesus is your Great I AM then their must be a constant focus on your faith.

As this week ends, live your life for the greatness and the glory of the Great I AM.  Let those around you see something special in you.  Whether at work or at play live to the fullest and know that the Creator of all is your personal Savior and Lord.

May God Bless Your Day!
