Becoming Like Christ: Witness

This week children around the world will share their personal answer to: What did you get for Christmas.  It is an easy request that has a much deeper connection.  In the child's mind the response is all about the stuff.  They will tell stories of special toys with a little glimmer in their eyes.  The unspoken truth is that each gift is attached to a relationship.  Children are excited about the new possessions because family and friends loved them in practical ways of giving.  They now have the power to tell others about this love by recounted their happiness from Christmas morning.

Our witness of God should come with the same power and excitement.  Jesus explained, "you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth" (Acts 1:8).

How will the world come to know the gift of God’s love and holiness?  Through you!  God has given you the gospel message.  You are forgiven from all sin and made righteous in His presence.  The Holy Spirit is a gift to all believers and His daily relationship gives us to power to simply tell others of our joy.

Your role is not to share something that is foreign or unknown.  We tell personal stories.  We tell of God's work in us.  You have the power and ability because of the faith and knowledge in the gift of Jesus.

Ask God to reveal a person in your heart and mind for you to witness to this week.  Tell them what you received for Christmas.
