Make the Most of Your Moment
Matthew 9:9
"And Jesus passed forth from thence, He saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and He saith unto him, Follow Me. And he arose and followed Him."
Life is made up of moments. Some come in like lightening and disappear just as fast. Christmas morning, scoring a winning goal, or starting a new job. Others seem to drag on forever, like studying for a test, or even taking that test. You have the big moments in life like graduation, getting married, the birth of a child, or the loss of a loved one. These are all moments you are consciously aware of people paying attention to what you’re saying or doing. You know pretty much what to expect and what’s expected of you.
Then you have moments that are part of your everyday life. Moments where you’re just going about your normal routine. You never know when one of these moments could change everything and your response to that change make an impression on someone else. Matthew experienced one of these such moments.
The times when your plan is drastically altered could be perfect opportunities to witness to someone else. The apostle Matthew was going about his day to day business collecting taxes, like any other day, when he suddenly had the Son of God standing before him telling him "Follow Me." Without another thought Matthew got up from that table and followed wherever his Lord led him to go. His response to this change in his life led to the first book in the New Testament. Matthew took his moment and reacted and now his witness is still going strong 2,000 years later.
You never know when your simple moment may become that moment that turns into a chance to make a change or share your witness. How will you respond and who will you touch?
I hope you see your moment and embrace it with everything you have.
Blessings,
