Becoming Like Christ: The Image

"The Son of God became a man to enable men to become sons of God" – C.S. Lewis

Two weeks ago, I took a little fall off my truck while trimming trees.  Someone asked why I went to such extremes in removing a few pieces of wood.  My father made me do it.  I have watched him work for decades.  He never held back from any task.  Even a risky move was taken to achieve the goal.  Over the years I adopted his mindset and philosophy of work.  In this case, the out come was not the best: a broken bone and several weeks wearing a boot!  I am my father's son.

Salvation is more that a removal of sin.  We are given a new nature, a godly nature.  The work of Jesus healed the broken reflection of the Creator.  Believers have been restored to the image of God (Gen 1:27).  Our mindset, philosophy, worldview, values, morals, glory, joy and so much more, reflect the pure image of Jesus.

We are sons and daughters of God the Father.  "For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God" (Rom 8:14).  The Holy Spirits is entwined with our spirit.  Our spiritual reflection is not of sin but of the Savior.

Look in the mirror.  You are a child of God.  Embrace the reality of the image of Christ and concentrate on sharing that image with those you meet this week.
