Tools

A Tool That Builds Tools is Go'’s Purpose for Your Church.
Depending on your job or what you are trying to accomplish, most of us need tools to get the job done.

As a nurse, I fill my pockets each morning with the tools I'll need throughout the day:  pens, sticky note pads, pen light, scissors, keys, etc.  When I worked in a different type of nursing position, my pockets were filled with somewhat different tools:  stethoscope, saline syringes, IV supplies, heavy duty bandage scissors, etc.  All these items serve a purpose and are needed to get the job done.
During VBS this summer, the theme of construction/building tools was used to tell the children about Jesus.  "Building on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the chief cornerstone" (Ephesians 2:20).

In his blog Ministry 127.com, Dr. John Goetsch writes the church is "a tool that would build tools…Christ built the church to build us."  In Ephesians 4, God mentions some 'Construction workers' that He has enlisted in the construction process: "And he gave some, apostles and some prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers" (Verse 11).
These were given to the church (His building), "For the perfecting of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:  Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ" (Verses 12-13).

God designed a tool (the local church) to build tools (Christians) who can in turn go out and build other tools!
Tools are not built just to sit on a shelf; they are built to be used. From Romans 6:13, "Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness."

We are tools meant to be used by God to further His kingdom.
God isn’t building buildings-He’s building tools.  Paul wrote to Timothy, "And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others" (2 Timothy 2:2).
I thank God for our church, "a tool to build tools."

Have a Blessed day!
