Understanding the Message of Christ: There is Only One God
Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is One!
(Deuteronomy 6:4)
It was a radical message. Most of the world was polytheistic when God deliver this truth to Moses. They worshiped many gods. Mankind has always understood the complicity of the world. Seeing the stars, trees, water, and so many other wonderful creations guided men and women to see many gods over these many beauties.
Then God spoke. He told us that He was God; the only God; the One God.
It was a declaration of sole devotion. The Lord explained to the world He would not share His glory with anyone or anything.
You shall have no other gods before Me (Exodus 20:3).
Today you are pulled in a hundred different directions. Work, family, and fun, all compete for your time. More often than not these priorities take the place of devotion in our minds. We long for them, worry over them, and get excited when they turn out the way we dream.
You are being challenged by God to put away any polytheistic devotion. God alone is to occupy your thoughts. All of your responsibilities are measured and gauge by their priority in God’s plan.
Spend today concentrate to the Creator and His wish for every aspect of your time.
