Prayer

I need a constant reminder of God’s grace and joy.  This world is hard.  Life is hard.  We often find ourselves disheartened with burdens and bad news.  Nothing has helped me overcome the constant worries and anxieties more than prayer.

We are called to a life of praying without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:15).  Every moment of every day can be seized for a conversation with God.  These moments are times to share our heart and to listen to His.

The Lords Prayer teaches God’s direction for prayer.
Pray, then, in this way: 'Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.  Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.  And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen (Matthew 6:9-13).

This model prayer gives us a pattern to follow which can be summarized by the acronym ACTS.
Adoration: appreciating God for who He is apart from what He has done for us.
Confession: acknowledging God our specific sin and seeking His pardon.
Thanksgiving: appreciating God for His benefit to us.
Supplication: interceding for ourselves and others according to God’s will.

Take time today to pray through God’s model prayer.
