Cast Your Care
"Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7).
The phrase “cast your care” is something many people misinterpret. Most think it comes by turning problems over to God; He will take it away or solve the issue to our liking.
Casting your care means we do our part, as much as we can, and then turn it over to God to do as He sees fit. We then abide by His decisions. It means we lay down our troubles and worry about it no more.
One very good example of this process occurs when our teenagers start to drive. The first time that they go out alone in a car, on a rainy night or in icy weather, can be tremendously frightening. We provide a road worthy vehicle, gas in in the tank, and a little money in their pocket. We tell them to be careful and send them on the way. Then we go to bed and sleep to the next morning. Yeah, right! It’s not easy but it is truly showing faith.
Casting your care on the Lord means you trust Him. It has taken me a long time to learn this truth and to somewhat apply it. Living with trust is hard. I am still struggling but I am getting better.
Remember to do your part and then give the care to Christ.
