The Beatitudes-Day 19

Day 19:

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God. - Matthew 5:9

Being an agent of peace

God calls us to be peacemakers, to seek and promote peace wherever we are active. Romans 12:18 urges us, “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” This doesn’t mean avoiding conflict but pursuing harmony and understanding in our relationships. Being an agent of peace requires humility, patience, and a willingness to put the well-being of others before our pride or desires.

Peacemaking starts with our hearts. When we experience God’s peace, we are empowered to extend it to others. This could mean defusing a heated argument, bringing a calm spirit into a tense situation, or choosing words that heal rather than hurt. It also means intentionally creating an environment where love, respect, and unity thrive.

Our world desperately needs people who carry and spread God’s peace. Let us pray for the grace to be peacemakers, using every opportunity to build bridges rather than walls and to reflect God’s love in our interactions.

Prayer focus:

Asking for grace to promote peace in your relationships and community.
