The Beatitudes-Day 10
Day 10:
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. - Matthew 5:6
Walking in humility before others
Developing a hunger for God’s righteousness is about cultivating a deep desire to live in alignment with His will and to reflect His holiness in every aspect of our lives. Jesus spoke of this in Matthew 5:6, saying, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.” This hunger is a longing for more of God’s presence, truth, and goodness in our hearts and the world around us.
To develop this hunger, we must first recognize our need for God. Just as physical hunger drives us to seek food, spiritual hunger moves us to pursue God’s righteousness. This begins with spending time in His Word, where we understand His standards and desires for us. As we meditate on Scripture, we are reminded of the beauty and power of living a life that reflects God’s character—one full of justice, mercy, and love.
Prayer is another key to cultivating this hunger. Through prayer, we ask God to transform our hearts, to make us more aware of our need for His righteousness, and to give us a passion for His ways. As we grow in our relationship with Him, this hunger deepens, motivating us to turn away from sin and actively seek His will in every area of life.
Developing this hunger also means living with integrity, pursuing justice, and showing kindness to others. It’s a personal pursuit and a desire for God’s righteousness to impact our relationships, communities, and the world. When we hunger for His righteousness, God promises to fill us, satisfying us with His presence, peace, and purpose.
